Hi,

I have a help project that was translated previously using Sisulizer, and it was recently rescanned with the new support in the program for browse sequences resulting in new strings from the browse sequences needing translation. Many of the strings that are included in the browse sequences are included in other parts of the help that was already translated, but the browse-sequence strings are not automatically translated when the help is rescanned. Is there a way to have Sisulizer do that, or how do you recommend doing it?

Thanks,

Allen

Hello,

Check following Sisuliser settings:

1. "Tools" menu > "General" > "Translations" tab > "Duplicate strings" > "Update translations"
If you have selected "No", change it on "Automatically", "Prompt translated" or "Prompt always"

2. "Tools" menu > "General" > "Translations" tab > "How to select duplicate strings"
If you have selected "By Original and Context", change it on "By Original"

Best regards,
Janusz

I have experienced  incosistent behaviour with these settings. I have the settings as attached in the png.I also experience that sometimes SL does not auto translate new strings after a scan but they are left untranslated. I have to do translate from translation memory or translate duplicates to have them translated. Shouldn't these settings be sufficient?To reproduce, create a new project with a simple text file containing the follwing  rows

1<TAB>string 1
2<TAB>string 2
3<TAB>string 1

translate these with

string1 = a
string2 = b
string1 = c

When asked if you want to update all translations of string1 to c answer No. Save the project. You will now have 3 rows with the following content

1/string1/a
2/string2/b
3/string1/c

Modify the textfile and add the following line to the bottom.string1Save the textfile and scan. For me this will autotranslate the fourth row with a. I don't get any questions about what to translate the string with. It could be translated with either a or c. What I want is for it to translate any duplicates to the same as the translated strings but it should prompt me if the same string is translated differently.Also, how does scanning with SLMake handle the same problem?

Thanks
/Fredrik

Hello Frede,

Thank you for your example and suggestion related to differently translated identical originals. I'll forward it to our R&D.

Best regards,
Janusz

I implemented select translation dialog in the translate duplicates feature. The new feature will be in build 293.
