Hi,

The characters are displayed in the Sisulizer source and compiled translated help instead of the correct characters, such as the en dash.

Hi Allen,

Could you tell me, where I can find these examples in your CHM and SLP files (e.g. as subject for CHM file, HTML node name for Sisulizer project)?

Best regards,
Janusz

I uploaded the files so you can look at them directly since they are updated versions of the ones you received previously.

Hi Allen,

Hmm... On my PC en-dashes are correctly displayed both in your Sisulizer project and output Sisulizer file (German CHM). You can see it on attached screenshot. Issue was tested with build 300.

Hi,

I don't know what was going on here, but I replaced the &endash:'es with - and it appears to have magically fixed all other instances as well:eek:.

Hi Allen,

If you replace

&endash;

with

–

it should also help. On my system
–
can be displayed while
&endash;
always fails. In your screenshot I see you use the version with "e".

Regarding Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dash#Rendering_dashes_on_computers the version without the "e" is the correct CER for
–
.

Hope this helps in any way

Markus

Hello Allen,

OK. I found it in Swedish translations. As Markus told using of – entity is better solution than &endash; because it is guarantee you correctly displaying of en-dash characters on all systems. However, changing it require of using some trick, because Sisulizer treats items &endash; visible in translation cells as standard strings, and for this reason these items are automatically replaced with &endash; items, but this is not visible in Sisulizer’s sheet. Of course, Sisulizer use it also in output files and for this reason browsers don’t recognize it as en-dash entities.
Fixing method:
Go to "Search" menu -> "Replace", type &endash; to "Text to find" field and – to "Replace with" field and replace all occurrences of &endash; items (with settings as on below screenshot). This solution gives you correct displaying of en-dash characters in targeted CHM files.

One advice:

If you would like type to translation cell special characters (character entities), you needn't type it manually to cell. Simply, double click on desired translation cell (open it for edit) and select "Insert Entity" in context menu. It opens dialog where you can select required entity (look on attached screenshot).
