Dear all,

is it a fact that I when i build a localized chm file from m slp-project then Sisulizer does a import/scan from my scource file first?

So we have a chm source file and a sisulizer project. We translate all strings in the project file. In the meanwhile we changed our source file to a newer version (more content to translate in it). After translation we build the project for the selected language. After the building my sisulizer project contains a few untranslated string.
Now I guess that sisulizer does an import from our source file before building the localized chm.

Am I right with my assumption?

Thanky you in advance

Best regards

Tobias

You are right. When building Sisulizer always scans the original file. If the original file has changed since the last scan it might be that build process will bring new rows into the project.

If you don't want this copy your original CHM file in another directory and add that file into Sisulizer project. Now you are free to change the original CHM.

Thank you for the fast response :-)

In future we will overwrite our source file not until we finished the build of our localized chm file.

Maybe a check option for the automatic scan could be a feature for a future release.

Hello Tobias,

Maybe a check option for the automatic scan could be a feature for a future release.
What do you mean by this?
  • Sisulizer automatically scan source during adding source and during build operation.
  • You can manually scan source at any time by "Project" menu -> "Scan for Changes".
Best,
Janusz

Yes, but there's no option I can set to tell Sisulizer NOT to scan for changes, isn't it?

No, because Sisulizer can't build output files without scanning of sources and update of project.

However, Sisulizer can help you support all translations issues related to changes after scan. For example:
  • If you have checked "Tools" menu -> "General" -> "Translations" tab -> "Translate new rows automatically after scanning", Sisulizer try translate all new items (duplicates based on original values)
  • If you have checked "Tools" menu -> "General" -> "Translations" tab -> "Retranslate automatically translated items if original values changed", Sisulizer will check all changed rows and try retranslate changed originals.
  • If you have checked "Tools" menu -> "Translation Engines" -> your TM -> "Add settings" tab -> "Add unused strings to the translation memory", Sisulizer saves translations from all removed (automatically or manually) unused items to your translation memory for reusing in future.
  • With Sisulizer's Row filters you can quickly review all changed, new or unused items: http://www.the-localization-tool.com/?p=477

Best regards,
Janusz
