Hi,

We have an existing project that contains several different executables in it and we have successfully localized these executables over a period of time. We have used the project to generate localized versions of the executables many times.

Recently we have had to make a number of changes to one of the executables (a Delphi application with .dpc and .drc specified on the item properties page) and attempted to rescan the project to pick up the changes. The problem is that when we do this a large number of the forms within the executable appear blank, i.e. without any controls.

When we build all the items in the project, this app is localized using the settings that we had up until that point and we are able to change the translations for the strings but it is obviously impossible to reposition controls as they don't appear.

To test to see if it was a problem with the .exe itself, we took a copy of the executable and added it to the project again and it scanned successfully and the controls are displayed correctly.

We have a large amount of time invested in the translation and modifying the location of controls on the forms. We also under a deadline to get this work back to our customer.

Is there any way that we can extract this information from this project or to get it to scan successfully again?

Regards,
Dom.

Hi,

Sorry - this is very embarrassing but I think I have just found out what was causing the problem.

I had incorrectly mapped a number of third-party components and hadn't noticed this earlier. I misinterpreted the blanks as the components being missing. Whoops.

To fix the issue I exported the default mappings from the executable copy to a .sli file and then imported them into the original and the problem is solved.

Mods - would it be possible to delete this thread?

Regards,
Dom.

Hi Janusz,

Many thanks for you quick response. I think that our previous posts overlapped; I think that I have solved the problem - turns out that it was user error.

Regards,
Dom.

No problem, thank you for information:).
BTW:
All control sizes are Integer numbers, and you could export these values to external file e.g. TMX. It allows you create copy of your controls sizes for selected or all languages, together with translated strings or without translated strings.
For export these values you should to perform following steps:
File menu > Export (e.g. to TMX), in second step select Data Types tab, and check Integer number item (look on screenshot). During potential re-import I recommend use By context method (Import method).

Best regards,
Janusz
