I've done 3 projects using sisulizer, 2 compile fine. One refuses to compile. I've spent about 2 days looking for and resolving differences between the original and translated files - but haven't found anything significant.

I'm translating from US English - to UK and Aus English. Pretty normal stuff. I'm using the latest version of Sisulizer (just downloaded it today).

I am out of ideas on where to look. Any suggestions or similar experiences that might help me?

Do you have any error messages you could share?
Does the translated source run in the VB IDE?

Markus

Hello,

Could you send on support (at) sisulizer.fi email address your source files (VB6 files) and optionally Sisulizer project for analyze?
We would like help you, but we need more information about your issue, that is:
- Did Sisulizer build output files (or not)?
- Did you get any error messages in Output pane during scan and build?
- Did output file works incorrectly (in case when Sisulizer can build output file)?

Best regards,
Janusz

The translation stage reports no errors. When I use sisulizer to build all the files it correctly outputs all of he new source files in their correct locations. The only error message is from VB6. It's a general error - "Visual Basic has encountered a problem..."

I get the same error message from the compilation done from sisulizer or from the IDE.

Weirdly, I did discover that if I loaded the forms in a particular order in the IDE that it will compile. If I then save my files after the first successful compilation I can always compile it within the IDE. So, the IDE seems to be "fixing up" something under certain conditions. I've done a file compare - and I'm thinking that it may be related to an upgrade from IE6 to IE7, and related to a web browser control property named "Location". But, still guessing and trying to work out some tests that replicate it more reliably.

I wouldn't point the finger at Sisulizer, except that the original code works perfectly.

It's a large project, with alot of dependencies. I will try to zip up and send in to support.

I have another clue that might help. By substituting the original file one by one into a translated build, I was able to confirm that there is ONE form that is causing the problem. The one difference I have detected is that the translated FRX is 2 bytes larger than the original FRX. All of the other FRXs are the same length as the original.

Also, it seems that the FRX entry points in the translated FRM hve all been shifted 2 bytes. There are no other differences between the original and translated forms that I can detect.

Is the change in the FRX size a useful clue?

Yes. The problem might be that Sisulizer can not localize that FRX correctly. Can you send the original form (.frm) and the original (.frx) to

support (at) sisulizer.fi

Jaakko

Thank you for the files. I fixed the bug in 277. The problem was reading the binary data of list box from FRX in the case when there were no items in the list box.

New build will come out on Monday.

Jaakko
