Hi, I found some drop-down links that don't work in the translated help (compiled with build 295). I'll upload the help and include the names of the topics I found that contain links like these (there are no doubt more). You already have the English version of this file. In addition, incorrect characters are displayed for topic titles in the Search window such that they are not readable in the translated language. The characters are also displayed incorrectly if the topics are added to the Favorites tab. Best regards, Allen

Hi Allen,The characters are also displayed incorrectly if the topics are added to the Favorites tab. This issue is not concerned to Sisulizer, but to Microsoft HTML Help Viever. This is old tool without Unicode support, and for this reason French accented characters can be displayed correctly only on French Windows (you use Windows-1252 encoding for output files). You can see correctly displayed French characters in topics on English Windows, because for topics' displaying HTML Help Viewer use IE components with Unicode support. However, I think this is not important issue, because targeted users should see correctly displayed French accented characters on their locale Windows. I found some drop-down links that don't work in the translated help (compiled with build 295). I work on this and I let you know about results of my investigation. Best, Janusz

Hello Allen,I found some drop-down links that don't work in the translated help (compiled with build 295). I checked these items (topics mentioned in your TXT file attached to uploaded CHM file) with your SLP file. After update of your source file (current version of your CHM file is compiled by Robohelp 8), some translations also require updates. Our developers implemented features for displaying and filtering rows with "New", "Changed" and "Unused" statuses, because it allows users find in easy way all potential translations required changes. Below is screenshot from your Sisulizer’s project with mentioned in TXT file example of not working drop down menu. Original and translation cells have different tag structure, and it should be corrected. Best regards, Janusz Attachment: screen.png (Downloaded 26 times)

Hi, The problem seems to be more complicated than that. Even though the links look the same in the different languages in Sisulizer, they may work in one language and not in another. In the image, for example, the link works in the compiled Swedish version but not the French. In addition, if you search for the word "dialog" in the translated compiled helps ("dialogue" in French and "dialogrutan" in Swedish) and then select each of the topics in the list one by one and check the "To access this dialog" link at the top of the topics, you'll find that they all appear to work in Swedish, but a large number of them don't in French. Hi Allen, We'll check these issues, but unfortunately, our old version of your project doesn't contain Swedish translations. I would like compare French and Swedish output files and related items in project, so I need newer versions of files. Could you upload to us latest versions of your Sisulizer's project and rsadmin.chm? Best regards, Janusz

Hello Allen,The problem seems to be more complicated than that. Even though the links look the same in the different languages in Sisulizer, they may work in one language and not in another. In the image, for example, the link works in the compiled Swedish version but not the French. I found reason of this issue. Your French translation contains POPUP value for Javascript different from original. Original value is #POPUP320561328 while translated value is #POPUP321098210 (this value probable was changed in your source file). French translation contains this item, because it had translated before disabling scripts in your Sisulizer’s project. Other translations don’t contain this item, because they are translating after disabling scripts. I’ll try find solution how prevent similar cases in future. Below is screenshot from your project. Hi Janusz, So does this mean that the solution to make the French popup links work for this project is to find the popup instances in the project file where the numbers are different and simply delete the unnecessary text in the translated string, for example: class="dropspot" x-use-popup="##POPUP321098210" x-popup-type="pulldown" href="javascript:TextPopup(this)" id="a1"? Thanks, Allen Last edited on Fri Feb 12th, 2010 09:14 am by a_keann |
