Hi
Using Installshield to open ISM file, export and import string tables takes a long time.

Is there a timeframe Sisulizer will support ISM, MSM, MSI format that can also export and import strings?

This also include installshield dialogs

thanks!

Hello,

No, current version of Sisulizer doesn’t support both Installshied and MSI. MSI is already on our roadmap, we also some time ago discussed about Instalshield, but unfortunately we have long requests queue, so I don’t know when it could be possible to implementation. Of course, I’ll forward your request to our developers.

Best regards,
Janusz

Hi, thank you for your respond.

Actually, ISM or MSI, as long as you can export the strings out for translation and import back it, that is ok!

Thank You!

Hello,

Seem to me that Installshield ISM file type has XML data type structure, so probably Sisulizer can (at least partially) supports this file type, but I would like to test it. Could you send some sample ISM file on support (at) sisulizer.fi email address?

Best regards,
Janusz

Hello James,

Current build doesn’t supports Installshield table files, but ISM files have XML syntax, so you can localize this file type with Sisulizer. However as I mentioned above Sisulizer doesn’t supports directly this file type, so you need manually customize created project based on ISM file if you would like to get correctly results.

1. ISM is not on list of supported file types, and for this reason this file type is invisible in first step of new project wizard (Project Wizard – Select file), because Sisulizer by default use “All supported file types” setting for this dialog window. You should to select “All files” item from dropdown menu on bottom of dialog (look on attached screenshot).

2. After select your file, in next wizard step (Project Wizard – Select file format) you should select “XML file”.
3. In third step you can to set up options for your source file, for example tags to localization, you can check or uncheck tags, but if you aren’t sure, you can use default Sisulizer settings, because you could change these settings also in created project at anytime (right click on source item in Sisulizer Project tree > Select “Properties” in context menu > go to “Tags” tab). Below is screenshot from this tab of source properties for your ISM file.

Above steps allows you to create valid Sisulizer project, but your project will be to contain lot of items which shouldn’t be localized, so these items should be invisible for your translators and not localizable, but Sisulizer allows you exclude these items. On below screenshot is displayed operation for exclude all occurrences of “ISMergeModuleCfgValues” item. Of course you can to use this feature for all unnecessary items. You ccan to revert excluded originals at anytime via Project menu > Excluded originals.
I found in your file following items: ##ID_STRING1## … ##ID_STRING12##, and for similar items I recommend you use “Excluded Strings” (Project menu > Excluded Strings) feature instead Exclude Original, because this feature allows you on wildcard usage, so if you add ##ID_STRING*## to excluded string list, it automatically exclude all mentioned above strings. If you have more projects with these same not localizable items, you can use similar list in General settings. All strings from this list will be automatically excluded from all your project.

I hope I help :),

Sisulizer build 280 will detect ISM format as XML file and will automatically check the XML elements that contains string data.

Hi, i download the build 180, i noticed Sisulizer is parsing out everything into the table. It is hard to get them to localize because almost everything can not be localizing. When reading ISM files, the only XML table that is localizable:

....
...

rest of it can be ignore. Do you think build 180 has some kind of feature to manually adjust the reading of ISM file?

thanks a lot!!
