Hello,
I know, Ilkka and Jaakko are very busy, but I have next idea about new feature for the Sisulizer.
Below is text from Passolo website:
"PASSOLO contains a VBA compatible scripting engine and is OLE automated. Ready-to-use macros, which can be downloaded free of charge, will easily add useful features to PASSOLO. Using the integrated IDE, customers can develop their own localization solution which meet the requirements of an individual software."
Alchemy Catalyst also has scripting language.
Do you think about own scripting language for the Sisulizer, for example in version 3? Probably adding this feature will be very hard, and for this reason I think about it in version 3 not 2, additional Ilkka and Jaakko have their own order and priority for adding next new features, but they done first step in this direction - SlMake .
Exchange of macros by the Sisuluzier users (on forum, or on download area) also can to help to integrate the Sisulizer community.
Best,
Janusz

Hi Janusz,

your are right and scripting is already on Sisulizer's roadmap. But there are also some concerns. Not against scripting as such but in an important detail.

A lot of scripting enabled apps use VB compatible engines like Sax Basic Engine - which is no longer supported by its developers. But also VBA from Microsoft did not have an upgrade for long. With VB6 the development of VBA also seem to stuck. If you look at the latest Office release you will find there the old VBA engine and not some fancy like VBA.NET.

If we at Sisulizer include some scripting engine we want something that is more future compatible than old VBA or compatible engines.

Best

Markus

Most likely it will be Pascal or C# based scripting.

Hello.

Markus, you are right, Microsoft VB engine for Office wasn’t long time updated. Scripting based on C# probably will be very interesting and comprehensive solution.

Best,
Janusz

While also Pascal could be a choice. It is a clear easy to learn language. While it is more strict than Basic it helps to avoid nasty bugs in customer scripts.

Best

Yes, Pascal has lucid structure and syntax, than C#, and it allows users better to avoid mistakes than basic.

Best,

Janusz
