Hi,
The Sisulizer has very good exchange tools for exchange projects files between developers and translators, also freeware Translation Edition of the Sisulizer is better tool than similar localization freeware products, because has enabled TM, Duplicate translation, Validation and other features (Alchemy Catalyst in freeware version for translators has disabled all these feature). Like mentioned above the Sisulizer is very good tools for translators, but in my opinion the Sisulizer should contain better groupware support from developers side, because big projects are localized by many translators, and often to many languages in this same time. For this reason good management of translations received from many sources (freelancers, translation services, etc.) is very important issue, especially for big companies with big localization teams. Quick and easy way for work preview of many translators and possibility of charge calculating (for example by statistics) for them, can considerably reduce general cost of localization process. I found out easy way of implementation some elements of groupware to the Sisulizer. Below described solution isn't excellent, but probably not specially hard to implementation.
1. User (developer or translator) in exchange wizard can to enter translator name in "Author" field. Do you think about adding new column to sheet (for example author, user, or translator) where will be copied contents of "Author" field from imported project. For example, if developer imports from exchange pack one hundred strings, To every cell of author column for imported string, will be added name from "Author" field. This solution allow to quick and easy preview all imported strings from all translators. Of course, after all changes in imported string content of column cell should be updated to current author name.
2. My second suggestion is involved my first (above) idea, and concern adding new filter to the Sisulizer filter set. New sheet filter should contain list all names available in author column. For example, if developer imported translation from "John Smith" and "Frank Donahue", these two names should be visible in author column and in new sheet filter. Filter name list can be implemented, for example as dropdown menu, or as list box with visible all available translators names. This filter improve preview of translated contents for selected translator, and allow look on stats only for one selected translator. Do you think about adding "author" filter to the Sisulizer?
Of course above ideas are only very casual suggestions, but this topic touch important issue.
BTW:
Good groupware support needs also better stats solutions (look on Frede topic: http://forum.sisulizer.com/forum7/389.html) and reports features (my topic: http://forum.sisulizer.com/forum7/211.html).
Best,
Janusz
