Many strings in a string table are copied to window controls. Our translators are not always aware that they should create translatiosn of comparable string length. There is currently no validation option available to test this. Test should warn when translated strings are (much) longer than the original string. Possiblty needs parameter to set the threshold.

Hi Kuykens, the background color of the cell becomes red if the lenght of the target language is longer than the original. The darker the red the bigger the difference. You can even filter for strings (Sheet Filter -> Text) which have a threshold bigger than x %. Using this you can even find short strings. The shot shows a project with a threshold filter of 120%. Because of that all target rows are red. But you are right, there is no extra option in the validation process. Do you think it is needed after you know about the feature described above? No, including it in the validarion would not be necessary per se. The coloring was one of the things which I could not figure out what the function was in the beginning. Took me quite some time to understand what coloring was about. (Forgot all abaout it again when posting the question). The filtering functionality is fine but is maybe too much hidden... When working on GUI, comparing string lengths, intuitively is a validation task. On the other hand it may be mostly applicable to GUI stuff only. Other documents may not suffer that much of length differences ...

Hi, IMHO this functionality is not enough. Resources (in my case .Net resx files) often have max pixels size limitation, and the original text is not supposed to exactly fill this max width, so this comparison is not really useful. This functionality would be great if the background cell became red only when the text pixel size is larger than the provided pixels size limit, USING THE CORRESPONDING FONT DEFINED FOR THE RESOURCE. Regards, Sébastien.

Hello, After your latest post on this topic http://forum.sisulizer.com/forum4/1016.html I sent to our R&D request for changing max pixel value reference from sheet font to source font. Janusz
