Hi, It would be helpful if I could use Deja Vu X (http://www.atril.com) translation memory, terminology and lexicon as an external translation memory. Best regards Siggi

Hi Siggi, we want to keep Sisulizer free from dependecies to third party products. This includes additional TM systems. The problem with third parties is, that the do not take care that they break our code if they change their interfaces. To avoid that we decided to trust only on defined and working standards like TMX. With this you can import and export any translations from third party TMs implementing the standard. The time we save to support not non-standard interfaces we invest into our own TM. A prominent members on our road map is fuzzy matching. Work for that will start shortly after V2008 was released. All customers of V2008 will profit from that free of charge. There is more on the road map. But we do not want to unveil that while we know that our competition is scanning this forum on a regular base (greetings - you know who you are :-) ). Best Markus

Hi Markus, thanks for your answer, but maybe I had used the wrong term: Menu command Tools > translation Engines (in the german interface Extras > Translation Engines opens a dialog to add other translation engines. There, I would like to add Deja Vu ... Thanks in Advance Siggi

Hi Siggi, we mean the same thing. You can only add TMs where our developers have written code for. To add another engine as an option there our developers need to invest a lot of (sometimes fruitless) work. It starts with finding documentation about the interface (some TM providers make a secret out of that) and then install the TM for development, testing and support. You have to repeat that for all versions of the TM in case the interface is changed. Each TM has a complete different API or interface. If there would be some API standard for that like for Windows printer drivers it would be easy. But it isn't. Some use DDE, some OLE, some SOAP, and some and API and off course all with different parameters and function names. Believe me, the time is better invested in the TM comming with Sisulizer. Best Markus

Hi Siggi, thanks for the nice words. The translation memory world is changing fast. Perhaps some day there will be some standard for live access to TM. In the moment it looks more like the opposite and we can be happy to have TMX format. Best Markus
