I thought I can use slmake.exe for adding new language for all projects I have in batch as bulk operation. But I cannot find any option that would make desired change. Do you have any hint how can I automate adding new language for many projects at once? Regards Miroslav Galajda

Hi, you could use https://www.the-localization-tool.com/using-of-slmake-tool-add-task/ to create a new project with desired languages and then use https://www.the-localization-tool.com/using-of-slmake-tool-import-task/ to import exisiting translations from your previous project. In your batch file you then can rename the new project to the "old" name. Markus

I have existing projects and I want to add new language to each of the existing projects in batch.

There is no direct command. But the workaround will do the trick: Create a new project with all wanted languages, import strings from the existing, rename the existing project, rename the new one as the old one. You will get a project with the existing languages plus the new languages. Markus

Yes I understand, but add task requires to specify source files as input. How to retain the information about sources and other settings from existing project?

Hi, there is no direct way, but .SLP files have a simple XML structure. Markus

You are the first one to request that. Probably most customers only have a one or two projects and adding languages is a rare task that can be done with the GUI fast and easy. I hhave not much hope that R&D will rank that request high. Markus

Yes you are right it is rare. But when it comes to it, and you have lot of projects, like we have, then adding new language will be a big problem. I'm currently evaluating the latest version of Sisulizer. I'm investigating what localizing of about 100 visual studio projects involves and what involves maintaining them. So adding new language seems to be crucial task for us.

Probably the easiest way for you is to do the following: Create a small project. Save the SLPAdd one language. Save the SLP Adding an empty language in the SLP will not be a huge change. It might be the fastest to see what is needed to add a language to the .SLP using XML. My guess is, that it is not much. Anyway, our R&D is scanning this forum and if it is simple and they see the need to add a feature they'll do. But I have no influence on the priority of their work list. I just try to give a fair and honest answer :-) Markus
