Good morning guys,

I must change my PC and I am reinstalling all my apps into a W7 32bits. Now I was installing Sisulizer with my current serial number, but when it is installing binary files it gives me the following error: File access denied.

Could you tell me how can I solve it?

Thank you in advance,

Elena

Hi,

Make sure you have administrator rights while installing. Perhaps you need the help of some administrator if you don't have this rights.

Markus

Thank you Markus.
I had to create an administrator user, install in this session the app and it worked.

Best regards,

Elena

Hi Elena,

Just some perhaps useful hint:
Next time you update you will be able to start the installer with "Run as Administrator" (right click the installer app). This is an option in Windows if an Admin account is available. Perhaps it is useful for you.

Markus

Hi Markus,

I have just received my license code for Sisulizer and am trying to install it on my WIndows 7 64bit PC.

So far, I evaluated Sisulizer in a virtual Machine running Win7 64Bit as well.

Although I have admin rights on my PC, I cannot install Sisulizer 3.0 (Build 335).

I ran the setup.exe with "Run as administrator..." as well as without.

Normally, I can install any software that needs admin rights to setup or run on my PC with my account, since we have local admin rights for all developer accounts in our company.

Have you got another idea? I will attach a screenshot of the error dialog that appears, when I run the setup.exe as admin.

Cheers,
(Bernie).

Hello,

Could you tell me if you use default path to installation folder and path to personal folder during installation (or custom paths)?
I think temporarily disabling UAC for your account should solve issue.

Janusz

Dear Janusz,

thanks for picking this up for me...

During installation, I use the default installation path for the application (leave it unchanged, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sisulizer3").

For the "User directory" I use: "C:\Sisulizer-Data" which has Full Control for all users.
At first, I tried to setup Sisulizer with all default settings, but there was no difference in regard to this "file assess denied" error.

Also, I have - as far as I know - disabled UAC by pulling the slider down to the bottom in the UAC control panel and restarting the PC.

I verified this by ensuring "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\EnableLUA" being "0" (zero) in the registry.

Still, I get an access denied error during setup.

Using a process monitor, I think I have located the (two) operations that produce the error - please see the attached screenshot.

Due to our IT environment, my home directory lies on a file server. The installer tries to perform an operation on the directory "\FILESERVER\userdata$" which receives an "ACCESS DENIED".

At the moment, I do not know what I can do to get around this. Have got some more ideas?

Thanks a lot in adavance,
(Bernie).

Hello,

Sisulizer could be installed only locally and installer doesn't accept UNC paths. However, if personal folder selected in Setup Wizard is located on local HDD, Sisulizer should copy settings, samples and other files to this localization. We'll invastigate it.

Could you try set path for Personal folder in installation folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Sisulizer3) during installation (like on Windows XP)?

Janusz

Hi Janusz,

I have used the same directory as "user directory" - see attached screenshot.

But there is no improvement to the situation: the error still occurs and even the process monitor log shows the same "ACCESS DENIED" entries as stated in my last post.

Thanks for further looking into this. If I can provide you with more information, please let me know. I could also send you a full capture of the process monitor, but only in a non-disclosed manner (via direct email perhaps) and not for public access.

Thanks again,
(Bernie).

I found Sisulizer always try install samples to Users\user\Documents\ directory (in your case this is not local directory), even if you selected other location for your personal folder (on your screenshot). Please, uncheck "Install samples to personal folder" and let me know about results.

Janusz

Hello Janusz,

that did the trick!

It seems that in all trials I performed, I never really turned off all the setup options that might save something under my user directory.

I have turned off to put a shortcut on desktop before, but probably had some samples selected.

In the attached screenshots, you can find the settings I used for the successful setup: I deselected all samples, de-secelted to use the user directory for anything (samples, settings and trnaslation memory) and deselected to create a shortcut on the desktop.

Thank you very much for your help... and sorry, I didn't find it out myself.

Now I just need to copy some of the samples that I'd like to have a look at from my evaluation installation within the virtual machine.

Again - thanks,
(Bernie).

Sorry for this inconvenience.
I'll forward this issue to our developers. I hope it will be fixed soon.
BTW:
You needn't uncheck all samples in "Select Samples" step. Issue should be solved by unchecking "Install samples to personal folder" option in "Choose Destination Location" step. In this case samples are copied to installation folder, while Sisulizer.slo file (settings file) and TM to persolnal folder you choose.

Janusz

Thanks Janusz,

I've done as proposed by you and re-installed Sisulizer just without the checkbox to install the samples under the user directory.

Everthing worked and Sisulizer runs as expected, Settings are getting saved and so on.

Thank you very much for your quick, kind and very competent support - it was my pleasure.

Cheers,
(Bernie).

Our R&D fixed this issue. The fix will be in build 336.

Best regards,
Janusz
