Hello:

We have a project that localizes to 33 languages. Some of them have not western chars like chinese, russian, greek, etc. Some of them have different sizes.

We found in the Properties dialog, Fonts tab, the "Change fonts" options. This option replaces the original form fonts with the ones in the grid. We change the default value "Never" with "Always". It's ok That's what we want. (See attached image)

But we found a problem. It's not working properly in combo boxes. We work with Delphi Berlin and a standard Delphi TComboBox. When the languaje is occidental (like English) it works fine, but with some eastern languajes it works randomly. For example, in Chinese it's ok but in Greek it shows only bars instead of the corresponding chars. (See attached image).

Can you check this problem? Thank you.

Pablo.

We made some dicoveries. In the grid, the default font name for the greek, is "MS Sans Serif". If I change it for example to "Segoe UI" it works fine. The combo shows greek fonts. Please check this.

And ont other thing: if I change the size values in the grid (for example to 20 or 20) there is no size change in the translated form, It would be really appreciated for Thai languaje wich has really small fonts.

Hi,

Thats odd since MS Sans Serif should support Greek chars. The little bars are shown by the OS when a font is missing the image of that char.

If the code point would miss in general the code page (unknown) it would show as ?.

On which OS did you see that effect?

Can you please check that the combo box has the standard font name and size settings? Sisulizer will only change them if you have default settings.

If this does not help we`ll need some sample (as small as possible) in a zip together with your Sisulizer project file.

Markus

Hi Markus:

We have been looking this problem. I have made a small sample (just a form with a label, a combo box and 2 resourcestring), EXE and SLP project, to send you.

And I found this:

1- if we compile the application for 32 bit, everthing works fine. Greek combo values are ok and chinese chars and components are scaled (in the sample to 24)

2- If we compile the sample EXE for 64 bit the combo in greek shows those bars and chinese chars are not scaled. (see attached image)

Every languaje file, for both bit values, have been made scaning the corresponding EXE. We are using Delphi Berlin and Sisulizer 4 (B 366).

I will send you a RAR file containing all these files (EXE 32 and 64 bit, Translated files, SLP, etc.).

Thank you...

Pablo.

Please use Private Upload to send the files. Button is right above this post. If possible use zip format. Thanks

Markus

Hello Pablo,

I reproduced this also on my machine. I compared forms from both 32-bit and 64-bit resource DLLs and they seem to be identical. I think issue could be related to deeper VCL settings. However, I'm not Delphi expert, so I'll ask Ilkka about this.

It might be even a bug in 64-bit VCL. For now please use the workaround you found.
