If I translate a word using Google the translation appears in the right place. But when I left click on the word and choose translate duplicates, nothing happens. When I click on the column header and select translate duplicates, nothing happens. What I have to do is double click on the newly translated word, position the cursor at the end and press return. Then the duplicates are translated. Is there a way to make the column and word right click option work?

Hello,

Translate Duplicates behavior depends on Translation Status. Translations generated by Google, MS, other translation engines and Translate Duplicate feature get "Auto translated" status by default.
  • Translate Duplicates via cell context menu requires higher status (e.g. "Translated").
  • Translate Duplicates via column context menu and Column menu works with all statuses.
So if you use Translate Duplicates via context menu of translation cell with "Auto translated" status, it doesn't generate new translations. If you edit translation cell (double click on translation cell) it change translation status to "Translated" and automatically generate new translations for other original duplicates. Anyway, when you use Translate Duplicates via column header context menu, it should automatically translate all duplicates regardless of translation status. I don't know why it doesn't work for you. It could happen in some cases, for example if you use Alternative Original feature. If you'll send to us your SLP via Private Upload form, I'll check this. Here is article about our upload form: https://www.the-localization-tool.com/tech-support-and-using-our-upload-form/

Best regards,
Janusz

Thanks Janusz,

With your comments I found the problem. When I click on a word and select the Google translator, the status gets marked as "best guess" rather than "auto translated". Is there a setting to change that? If I change the status to "auto translated" then it works.

Thanks,
Mike
